VA COBB COUNTY CBOC

78,164 SF | Cobb County, GA

The new Cobb County Multi-Specialty VA Clinic is built to serve and honor the region’s 17,000 veterans. The new clinic will increase access to high-quality health care for Veterans in the region offering primary care, mental health, audiology, physical and occupational therapy, dental, eye care, and prosthetics services. The design integrates the clinic with the local environment, the sociocultural context, and the surrounding landscape creating an inclusive, healing environment that connects patients, staff, and community. As a destination for Veterans, the public spaces foster a social environment and offer views of the native landscape. As seen from Cobb Parkway and Bells Ferry Rd to the northeast, expansive glass walls rise above the building’s roof line, pulling maple daylight into the interior of the building. Decorative precast panels wrap the building with warm wood accents to help soften the exterior and highlight the entry. A raised roof profile helps bring attention to the public concourse and assists with wayfinding while giving the interior a celebrated height for its occupants. Another advantage to this raised profile is the generously celebrated views towards the exterior site. This fusion of architecture and landscape blends the existing tree line along the perimeter of the property, as well as the rolling hills of the area. Natural factors, coupled with various site amenities and architectural elements all work together to create an environment conducive to healing. This will allow the building to serve as both a visual and emotional connection to the veterans, staff, and community.
